A tree may need to be felled for several reasons. A tree may look healthy but could have significant structural or disease problems, in this case the tree may present a risk to property and life. Our trained staff will inspect the tree and can safely remove it.
Felling involves the complete removal of a tree, our arborists will climb the tree with appropriate equipment so branches, can be safely removed with minimal impact to the surrounding area.
Crown Reduction
When a tree has grown too large for a given space, you may find that a crown reduction, to reduce the spread and height of the tree, will be beneficial to its management, and the long-term health of the tree. The tree will be cut back to living growth points, so the shape of the tree can be controlled. This method is particularly useful when you want to avoid topping and would like the tree to maintain a more natural shape. In comparison to topping, a crown reduction will minimise stress to the tree, and prolong the time until it needs pruning again.
Crown Lifting
Often customers opt for this method of tree care when they have problems with a tree blocking light to their property. Crown lifting involves the removal and pruning of low-lying branches to a uniform height. Other reasons for a necessary crown lift occur when local byelaws need to be adhered to. In general, these will often stipulate that a tree should be 5.2 metres above ground level for vehicles, and 2.5 metres for pedestrians.
Crown Thinning
Heavy limbs can often present a danger to a tree and property, by removing them in a timely fashion the tree can be saved from a requirement to fell and be successfully reshaped so that it is no longer presenting any risk to itself, or your property. Crown thinning is an excellent way to increase light penetration through the canopy. If you have a tree on your property that’s blocking light to the ground beneath, you can be left with an unsightly, muddy patch in your garden. Crown thinning will certainly help you to negate this.
Pruning
Regular pruning of trees, will help you make sure that your tree will form a good structure, encourage the growth rate, and help you keep the tree manageable over its’ life span. It is an especially good option when you have fruit trees, training the tree will help make sure you get a good harvest of fruit come autumn.
Stump removal
After a tree has been felled, you may want to ensure that further re-growth does not occur, or you might want to leave the area flat, to avoid an unsightly stump or to build on top of it. Using a stump grinder, we will completely remove the stump and the underlying root system. We can also use targeted glyphosate killers when time is not of the essence, our methods will ensure that surrounding areas are not affected by any contamination with weedkiller.
